Gerald was brought up and educated in the Newtown area then graduated from Aberystwyth University with a degree in Economics and Business before entering a training contract with Whittingham Riddell in Shrewsbury. He qualified in 1986 and in 1987 moved to the Welshpool branch of Whittingham Riddell as a manager and was made branch partner in 1992. He bought out the branch practice in 2009 and set up Morgans retaining all Welshpool staff and clients.

Gerald’s parents ran an engineering business in Newtown and both sets of his grandparents were farmers, which gave him an early interest and insight to commercial and rural business together with a desire to practice accountancy and live in Mid Wales.

Gerald’s clients include professional practices, farmers and a variety of businesses who trade as Sole Proprietors, Partnerships, Limited Companies and LLP’s and he has considerable experience in all matters that affect these businesses including Capital Taxes, Income Tax, Inheritance Taxes and much more, with many of his clients using him as a “sounding board” for their ideas on many matters.

Gerald lives just outside of Guilsfield. He is married to Gaynor who works in the business and they have three daughters. Kathryn is a Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist with Shropshire County Council, Helen is a Chartered Physiotherapist and works for Powys Area Health Authority as a Respiratory Practitioner Specialist and Jennifer is a Solicitor, working in Cheshire.

Gerald is interested in all country matters and many sports.
